On May 10th, Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee(GAGOC) held a press conference to officially announce the full initiation of the marketing program of Guangzhou Asian Games. Mr. Gu Shiyang, Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC, Mr. Liu Jiangnan, Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC, senior managements from the relevant departments of GAGOC, representatives from Dentsu Inc., Marketing Agent of Guangzhou Asian Games and medias from home and abroad attended this press conference. This marks another milestone event in the preparation of the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou 2010.
Mr. Fang Da’er, Deputy Director of Marketing Department of GAGOC introduced the marketing scheme of Guangzhou Asian Games. This scheme is composed of sponsorship sales and services, licensing (including postal products, Commemorative Coins and other souvenirs), ticketing and donation, etc. He also introduced that sponsorship sales are divided into three categories: Prestige Partner, Official Partner and official supplier. GAGOC is committed to provide the best sponsorship rights package and services to all sponsors and protect the interests of the rights holders.
According to GAGOC, a detailed sponsorship plan will be announced later this year and the first group of partners and licensed products in relation to the Games Mascot released in the second half of this year. The products will integrate Chinese culture with Cantonese features. They will be a unique Brand of Guangzhou Asian Games and are expected to meet the various requirements of the public.
According to Mr. Fang, at present, some individuals and enterprises, including some overseas Chinese have phoned GAGOC for the confirmation of the donation program of the Games. This has fully showed their care and support to the Games. GAGOC will soon open a donation hotline so as to provide a convenient and reliable donation channel for the public.
GAGOC also announced that they are going to cooperate with the Games’ marketing agent for the marketing program. At present, the market agent of Guangzhou Asian Games is Dentsu Int. designated by the OCA.
The marketing of Guangzhou Asian Games aims to increase the awareness of the public and encourage their support to the Games and ensure the successful holding of the Games. At the same time, it provides a platform for enterprises as sponsors to show and promote their corporate image to the public. As a traditional commercial hub and also the economic and cultural center in South China, Guangzhou is committed to explore a marketing approach with Chinese characteristics and Cantonese features for the Games.
