Diversified Technology, Inc. has announced the introduction of the ATC6239, a quad-core AMD Opteron processor-based Node Board designed for telecom applications.

The Socket F processor-based is equipped with dual AMD Opteron 1.8GHz quad-core processors, each with 2MB L2 cache (1MB per core) and support for up to 16GB of memory. It uses a high I/O bandwidth HyperTransport link, Broadcom HT2100 and HT1000 server-class chipset.

The Node Board is PICMG 3.0 compliant for wireless access/edge, telecom fibre transport, media gateways, soft switches and Internet IP-based applications.

"The architecture of the blade, "provides freedom for our customer's programs to use a truly unique, hardware-based innovation through the additional use of FPGAs connected to the node application processor," stated Joe McDevitt, DTI's Chief Technology Officer.

"Through this and ATC6239's 10 Gigabit Ethernet and RTM Support, the blade gives unprecedented flexibility for ATCA applications for today and in the future."

Operating systems supported include Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, SuSE, and Fedora.

Production shipments for the ATC6239 will begin before the end of 2008.
